Security Chain Company Super Z6 Cable Tire Chain Features & Reviews (for Passenger Cars, Pickups, and SUVs)

The SCC Super Z6 SZ134 winter traction product offers superior performance for pickups and SUVs with very limited operating clearance around the drive tires. Be ready for winter driving with an innovative solution that is a step beyond traditional tire chains.

New Design
Based on the "Z" family of products, the Super Z6 is designed for vehicles with restricted clearance around the drive tires.

A diagonal crossmember pattern provides better outstanding traction and durability than conventional chain systems.

Easy to Install
A split outside cable with two fastening positions allows for easy installation without moving the vehicle, so there's no need to stop and retighten. The traction coils are manufactured from alloy steel to increase the lifespan of the product. The Super Z6 is also designed to prevent scratching of alloy or high performance tire rims.

Versatility
The Super Z6 is available to fit pickups and SUV tire sizes. It offers a unique combination of performance and convenience features for every user, including a "designed-in" rubber tightener, better all-around traction performance than conventional tire chains or cables, and greater durability.

Designed for High Performance
The Super Z6 has better compatibility with anti-lock brakes, traction control, all-wheel drive, and other electronically monitored control systems so as not to interfere with the normal handling characteristics of your vehicle. The unique design also offers a low potential for damage to vehicle body and mechanical components, even when abused.

"Used SZ143 for our 2014 Sienna. Also brought the SZ137 for my 2014 Volt. Both fit well and they are well made. I like the tension bands these come with, it really keeps it snug on the tire.

I had read someone else's review saying the SZ137 rubs the shock on the Volt, but that wasn't my experience. I made sure it was very snug on the outside and didn't have any problems when I test drove it with the chain on."

"First off, the fantastic instructional video helped me chose this brand over the others. I'm glad I did. The Super Z6 cables went on just like the video. I recently drove up to Lake Arrowhead during heavy snowfall, where there are some tight turns and steep hills in the mountain pass. During the downfall, I hit the checkpoint where chains were required. At the turnoff, I put them on in a few minutes and was back on the road. (NOTE: I practiced putting them on before at home, which I highly recommend.) I have a 2-wheel drive SUV, and the Super Z6 cables gave me a lot of traction and made for good driving through some dicey snow roads. They were just as easy coming off. Its easier if you reverse your automobile over them during removal, as the video shows. I saw a lot of other people on the mountain paying others to put on their chains for them, and some weren't even the right size or put on correctly. These Super Z6 cables were easy to install myself and were a decent price - so my trip was more enjoyable overall. I'd recommend these to anyone."

"We go to the mountains often and hope to not have to use these. That being said, they are very easy to put on (I practiced and you should, too!), and take off. High quality, and they take up no room in the back of your car. They even come with their own case."

"Had to purchase this as the tire chains for our 03 Toyota Highlander would not fit our 2010 HyHi. The chains arrived 1 day before our trip so my husband tried them out in the driveway to make sure he could put them on if needed. Sure enough, chain controls up on 80E to Tahoe. It took him less than 15 minutes for both tires and we were on the road again. I had read reviews on these being a little difficult to install but he had no problems at all. I would recommend these if you need tire chains that are easy to install and remove. They even come with a great totebag although my husband said the gloves were useless. He used a pair of leather utility gloves that he keeps in the HyHi."

"I am disabled and volunteer adaptive ski instructor and even though I drive a 4WD on occasion I have to install chains(cables). They were a pain to install and tighten and then retighten. When I received the Z6 chains I went out the try out the installation and make sure they were install and drive away. I am a 52 yr old disabled women and I installed both sides in less then 10 min on my first try, drove short distance, they self adjusted as promised. A big thing for me is that after removing them, they EASILY roll back up to go in the bag. The side cable is more flexible and allow for easy roll up.
Cables that are a bit cheaper have really stiff side cables and come in those blue hard plastic carriers are almost impossible to roll back up tight enough to put back in there carrier."

"I purchased this item for my Toyota Yaris. Usual tire size for the Yaris are P175/65R14 but I have P205/55R15. Bigger means better grip in snow and rain. But despite the bigger snow tires this car at just over 3000lbs is to light to have much traction in snow over an inch which in New Hampshire, where I live ....is not so good.
I was hoping to get this purchase before the big snow storm in early January 2014, but shipping was delayed because of the snow. I did get them the other day and tried them out.
1. The first time putting them on took about 15 minutes each tire front tire. I suspect it will get easier each time.
2. With bigger tires I have almost no room between tire and fender which means that I could not wear gloves, to hook the fasteners resulting in stopping every few moments to warm my hands so I could feel what I was doing.
3. I discovered after many frustrating tries that you need to put both ends of the fasteners in an "x" position in order to hook them together.
4. This product worked great!
The upper part of my driveway is very steep and snow covered. I tried to drive up without the chains and no dice. I put the chains on and drove up without effort. I even tried backing up and no problem."

"These worked perfectly for our holiday ski trip in Colorado. We were staying in a house with a dirt drive that had a pretty good grade. The streets were plowed but this driveway was not. We only got about 1-2 inches of snow over a few days but since the driveway was not plowed, we could not get out without these. We have a 2011 Honda Odyssey and they went on really easy. Getting them off was a bit trickier for me. I did not get them fully off and thought I needed to move the car forward a few feet. This caused them to wrap around the axle. Took about 30-45 minutes to clear them but I did get them off as well. Putting them on was less than 10 minutes!"

"Easy to put on. We had these on our 2017 Pacifica - hubby had to pull over on the side of the road on I-80 to Truckee during a required tire-chain only snow storm. He was in and out in a jiffy. Only thing is that with tire chains on, the car ride is loud and vibrate-y, but better than getting stuck in the snow!"

"We recently bought a cottage in the Gatineau Hills north of Ottawa. The final 1/4 of a kilometre into our cottage requires that we navigate a rather steep hill. During the winter months this road is covered by snow and at times ice since we go through periods of warming where snow melts or we get rain and then it freezes. We already have two cars but neither has AWD and I was trying to find a solution to avoid purchasing a new vehicle. I found this product after carrying out a search on the Internet. This was the first time for me using tire chains so was not sure if this product would meet our needs. Three weeks ago I had my first opportunity to use them and it was a complete success. We navigated the hill with ease, great traction going up and down with no slipping. We have used the chains another 8 times all with success and with minimal challenges putting them on and taking them off. As others have mentioned doing a trial installation before hand is good advice. I did not have a practice session and my first time installing the chains took much longer than expected. However now that I am familiar with the process I have it down to less than 5 minutes for installing and 5 minutes for taking them off which includes taking them out from the carrying bag and putting them back. Therefore I highly recommend this product since it meets our driving needs and has given me a great return on my investment; that is I did not need to buy a new car. One last point, we have winter tires on both cars and this means there is not much clearance in the wheel wells but these chains are easy to install even in these tight situations."

"Best cables Best trip ever! Last year we bought cheap cables at Walmart, they kept falling off and scratched our car big time. This year we bought these cables instead and these are the best cables. I noticed that everyone had them in the mountains. There's so much snow at Mammoth this season that we had the cables on for 6 days and the cables made our trip a breeze. I didn't have to stress a bit and we drove with our van in 2 feet of deep snow. Our van is FWD and it's not easy to drive in the snow but with these cables, no problem at all. I highly recommend them. It was also easy to put them on and take them off. I used to lose my sleep over this because we have to drive up a steep hill from our condo in the mountains and we kept sliding last year and couldn't make it up. Not this year. The cables made it so easy."
