"What a great addition to my 2002 Toyota Tundra. Installation took a couple of hours, some just spent thinking through the process and reading others reviews. But once you get how to install it, it is easy enough. There is just a picture and a few notes for installation, so spend a little time reading the reviews like I did and it will eventually 'click' and then it is a snap.

Hint #1: Someone mentioned that the extra red wire, supposedly used for a DVD installation, is a perfect hot wire to carry 12V to the monitor in the cab. It is, and it does. That way you dont have to hunt for another hot wire under the dash to power the monitor. And it is already there. Just hook it to the same connector at the reverse light you used for the camera. That way you only need one inline fuse to protect both items.

Hint #2: Another person mentioned water intrusion in to the camera housing, so I did as they recommended and bought aerosol Plasti-Coat and sealed all the seams after using blue painters tape to not cover the camera and IR light openings. Remember to use a razor blade to cut the Plasti-Coat off the blue tape after it dries, or it will attempt to peel off as you peel the tape off.

Hint #3: I used a 5-amp inline fuse from auto parts store. I placed it as the very first thing after I spliced in to the reverse light in the tail section of my truck. Even though the reverse light circuit is on its own fuse, it is a good idea to protect your electronics from a short somewhere between where you splice and where they are. Also, while you are there, pick up some 1/4" plastic split wiring loom to put your wiring into. This will just keep water, snow, vibration from compromising your wiring. Cheap insurance ... my philosophy .. do it once / do it right.

Very happy eith the unit.
I have a pickup with a rear seat, and I had plenty of wire to run to the LCD screen up front. I will be using this to permit one-person hookups of boat and travel trailer."

"This is a very good backup camera and an excellent value for the money. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for lack of instructions. If I could give 4 and a half stars, I would. A tiny foldout pamphlet with pictures in included but doesn't explain much.

It runs on 12 Volts DC and uses standard RCA video connections. The yellow connection is the primary video input. There is another white connection that I'm assuming is an auxiliary connection for either another camera or any other video source. The instructions do not say. The RCA cable that it comes with should be long enough to accommodate most cars. It was a about 3 feet too short for my Trailblazer but, since it is standard, I was able to use a double female connector and another length of cable to make up the distance. The RCA cable that comes with the camera has an extra red wire coming out of each end. The instructions don't say what this is for and basically tells you so ignore it. But I learned that it's actually a carrier wire. It is a power wire that runs the full length of the RCA cable. So instead wiring the camera and monitor to two independent power sources, you can splice in this carrier wire to bring power to the other side of the vehicle. I did this to ensure power was coming from my reverse circuit in the forward fusebox only.

The picture quality is excellent. It also uses inferred for night mode which is also a good quality. The monitor has imbedded marker lines which for most applications can be useful. But if for some reason you need to mount the camera off center from the vehicle they are meaningless. It would be nice if they could be switched off. If they can be, I haven't discovered how yet. The monitor also has brightness and contrast adjustments.

Again, a good value for the cost. And is not too big and bulky like a lot of 3rd party backup cams."
